Opportunities to Volunteer

Opportunities to Donate

We are pleased to announce a wonderful donation opportunity! In our first international donation program, New Moon Foundation is sponsoring an educational scholarship fund for the children of Nirvana Pagoda, a temple providing loving care to orphaned children in Vietnam. New Moon is covering all administrative costs so that 100% of donations will go directly to the children of Nirvana Pagoda.

You may offer a donation in your name, or on behalf of a friend or family member (a fabulous holiday or birthday gift alternative). For gift donations, we will mail a beautiful card to your person of choice describing the gift given in their name.

For more details about Nirvana Pagoda and New Moon Scholarship Fund, see the flyer below. Please also find the link to a pledge card that you may print, fill out, and mail with your donation to:

Nirvana Pagoda (Chua Niet Ban) provides care to Vietnam’s most vulnerable children, including orphans and children from impoverished families.  Led by Master Thich Thien Phung, who, himself, was an orphan left at the Pagoda, this safe haven and temple provides housing, emotional support, spiritual care as well as an education to children of all ages.

Master Phung was recognized as one of the “Well Known Buddhist Leaders in the Modern Age”, published by Lao Dong, 2006. A joyous, happy spirit, Master Phung’s life is dedicated to serving the abandoned, orphaned and impoverished children of Vietnam. He lives by the philosophy that:  “Everything is always enough.”  In accordance with this belief, Nirvana Pagoda lovingly accepts any child left at its doorstep and provides each child with love, food, clothing and educational opportunities.

After her first visit to the Pagoda in 2004, New Moon Foundation Co-founder Thuy Fujimoto was so inspired by Master Phung’s efforts that she and New Moon partners Jim and Lynn Lally provided key contributions to help build a dormitory that currently houses 65 children.

New Moon Foundation Co-founders Thuy Fujimoto and Bennett Dorrance, Jr., have high regard for Master Phung.  Both recently visited the Nirvana Pagoda and saw, first-hand, Master Phung’s appreciation for every child and his ability to nurture each child’s dignity, talents and spiritual nature and, at the suggestion of Elizabeth Lindsey, a New Moon Foundation Board member, decided to start “The New Moon Scholarship Fund” for the benefit of the children of the Nirvana Pagoda.

The New Moon Scholarship Fund

The New Moon Scholarship Fund was recently established to uplift and educate the children of Nirvana Pagoda.  New Moon Foundation has offered to donate all administrative costs so that 100% of your tax-deductible contribution goes directly toward educating and caring for the children of Nirvana Pagoda.

Your contribution provides scholarships, ensuring that the children of Nirvana Pagoda receive an education.

Your $50 contribution largely covers the cost of a child’s education for one year.

Your $75 contribution funds an educational scholarship for a child for one year.

A gift in the amount of your choice will provide valuable care for these children.

Join us in our support of the children of Nirvana Pagoda!  Fill out and return the enclosed self-addressed envelope and donation form; or send your check payable to ‘New Moon Foundation’ to: New Moon Foundation, P.O. Box 1089, Kapa‘au, Hawaii  96755.
